Our remanufacture and return service for Audi’s

The electric steering rack fitted to some Audi models is an item we get many enquiries about. Audi have designed the steering rack so it is located in a position low down, this exposes it to water and debris being thrown up from under the vehicle.

Any water or debris that gets inside the steering rack will eventually cause it to fail. A replacement steering rack from the Audi dealer are very expensive and can often be in short supply.

Our remanufacture and return service is a fast, cost-effective solution to this.

Our remanufacturing process will recover over 95% of the units sent to us. This includes units with water ingress. We do not charge for the initial inspection.

On the rare occasion that we cannot remanufacture your steering rack, we will be happy to assist you in attempting to source a replacement unit.

How our remanufacture and return service works:

1. Remove the steering rack from your vehicle.
2. Remove the track rod ends and any heat shields that may be fitted. Keep these in a safe place for refitting when your steering rack is returned.
3. Wrap the steering rack with a protective material such as bubble wrap.
4. Pay particular attention to the plastic plugs, sockets and attachments. These are the parts which are most likely to get damage.
5. Using a sturdy box, put the steering rack in and pack around it to stop it moving.

7. Arrange shipping to us. You can do this online, we receive regular deliveries from DHL, DPD, FedEx, Parcelforce and UPS.
8. You will need the measurements of your parcel, length x width x height and its weight.
9. Once we receive your steering rack we will be in contact, so please ensure you include your contact information.

Our remanufacturing process:

1. When we receive your steering rack. The unit will be inspected and tested to confirm it is suitable for remanufacture.
2. The unit is completely stripped to its component parts.
3. Components are cleaned using our specialist equipment, bring them back to an as new finish. This is especially import for units with water ingress.
4. All mechanical components are inspected, any that are found to be outside our stringent standards are discarded and replaced.
5. The ECU undergoes specialist examination, repair and testing. When complete it is programmed with the latest Audi software.
6. During reassembly new bearings are installed and the drive belt is replaced.
7. The completed unit undergoes a full road simulation test. This takes the unit well beyond normal operating conditions to ensure it is mechanically and electronically in 100% working order.
8. The unit is painted to protect it from corrosion and is etched with a unique build number.
9. The unit is now ready to install with no further coding or programming required.
